Diversity seems to be what makes the classroom most interesting! Although the social, economic, cultural, and ethnic differences are evident in each classroom, the diverse learning styles and the strengths possessed by each individual student are what really make the class a group. I have found that a student with advanced knowledge in one area may only be an average learner in another area. The students that are the most difficult to engage sometimes come up with the brightest ideas! I have seen how students differ in their approaches to learning and found it is sometimes difficult to assess student's abilities because they are in differing stages of development. I have found this to be one of the biggest difficulties when preparing lessons. Accomodations are not only for special education students, but must be planned for the diverse nature of the class too!
